The 30th Annual Lambda Literary Awards for excellence in LGBTQIA+ literature and by LGBTQIA+ creators is accepting submissions for consideration through December 1.

The Dwayne McDuffie Award is accepting applications from diverse comic creators and diverse works. Submissions will be accepted until December 31.

Wayward Sisters: An Anthology of Monstrous Women is running a Kickstarter to fund its production and fulfillment. Wayward Sisters is an anthology with 216 full-color pages featuring 25 stories with female and nonbinary monsters  and creators. Tier options include digital and physical copies of the anthology, prints, and an enamel pin. The Kickstarter ends on November 9.

Bones: The Art Book Vol. 1 is running a Kickstarter to fund the book’s production and fulfillment, as well as help with the logo redesign and layout. Bones features the full color artwork of Jessica Lynn’s BONES girls in an 82-page softcover book and 96-page hardcover book. Tier options include digital, softcover, and hardcover editions of the book, prints, and original artwork. The Kickstarter ends on November 11.

Centralia 2050 Volume 1 is running a Kickstarter to fund its production and fulfillment. This first volume of Centralia 2050 collects the first three chapters of the cyberpunk mystery webcomic, which can be read here, into a perfect-bound volume of over 100 black and white pages. Tier options include digital and physical copies of the book, stickers, bookmarks, prints, and original artwork. The Kickstarter ends on November 14.

Circadia #1 is running a Kickstarter to fund printing and shipping fees and contribute to the pay of future artists. Circadia is a 5-issue comic that will feature different queer women and nonbinary artists on every issue, with this issue’s cover by Jen Bartel, interior art by Keezy Young, colors by MJ Erickson, and letters by Ariana Maher. Tier options include digital and physical copies of the first issue, a sticker, a postcard, a behind-the-scenes PDF, mini prints, and more. The Kickstarter ends on November 14.

You & I: A Collection of Vignette Comics is running a Kickstarter to fund its fulfillment and production. You & I is a 28-page full color work of comic vignettes exploring themes of isolation, overwhelm, and resilience. Girls Make Games Presents: Find Me is a Kickstarter raising funds to further develop and publish the game. Find Me is a puzzle game where you play as a shadow separated from her human counterpart. The game was written, designed, programmed, composed, and illustrated over three weeks at a Girls Make Games camp by team Invenio, consisting of a group of girls in grade 6-11. Tier options include a digital copy of the game, a digital wallpaper, an art book, the game’s soundtrack, postcards, t-shirts, stickers, and more. The Kickstarter ends on November 21.

Masks: An Anthology is running a Kickstarter to raise funds for production and fulfillment. Masks features 8 original comics and 4 essays to explore the presence and intentions of masks throughout comics history. Alex Priest – A Genderqueer Vampire Hunter – #1 & 2 is running a Kickstarter to fund the production and fulfillment of these issues and the third issue to come. Alex Priest follows the titular lead and their ex Janelle Garcia as they face off against magic-using vampires and demons. The Manga Jiman Competition 2017 is accepting submissions of short comics from UK residents, including youth, until November 6. Selected winners may receive round trip flights to Japan, a Toshiba laptop, a Ricoh camera, and various manga.

Power & Magic Press is accepting submissions from non-binary creators for Heartwood: Non-binary Tales of Sylvan Fantasy until November 13. Selected contributors will be paid $105 per page along with Kickstarter bonuses and 10 complimentary copies of the anthology.

Augur Magazine is accepting submissions of speculative fiction, magical realism, poetry, graphic fiction, and comics until November 15.

Corpus: A Comic Anthology of Bodily Ailments is accepting pitch submissions through November 22. If selected, creators will receive $50 per comic page.

Recondite Hill is accepting horror comic pitches about monsters and eerie environments until November 24. Accepted artists will be given $10 per page with the possibility of Kickstarter bonuses.

ArtOrder is accepting submissions of Tiny Dragons for a 3″ x 3″ art book until November 30.

Omenana is accepting submissions of art and writing from creators from Africa and the African diaspora until December 2. Submissions should be speculative, hopeful, previously unpublished, and involve characters, settings, or themes directly related to the Africa continent.

Queerly Represent Me is accepting submissions of writing and art pertaining to queer representation in video games and any related intersections of diverse representation and expression in media until December 31. Accepted submissions will be collected into a zine and contributors will receive evenly split compensation depending on funds raised.

Weekly Shonen Jump is holding a Universal Manga Contest with MediBang! They’ve even made a free new program, Jump Paint, to help illustrate and tone your creation. You can submit up to 5 entries in any genre at a length of 55 pages or less. Submissions are due January 5, 2018.

The Silent Manga Audition‘s 9th competition event is accepting submissions through March 31, 2018. This SMA has a limit of 16 pages or less and a choice of three themes to select from. Comic submissions should be silent and without dialogue.


AfterLight Comics is seeking a colorist for an upcoming horror comic.

Argot Magazine is seeking written and illustrated submissions about queer and marginalized experiences.

Asexual Artists is seeking creative asexual interviewees all year long.

Black Girls Create is looking for submissions of written, drawn, filmed, photographed, or any other expression of creative work from black creators showing what their time at Hogwarts would’ve looked like! They are also seeking black women creators and pop culture critique and commentary from black women creators.

The Brave Some is seeking submissions of short stories, prose, essays, reviews, and visual art by black and/or brown women and femmes.

Are you a professional freelancer experiencing financial duress? The Haven Foundation offers grants and assistance to applicants with chronic illness or injury or other career-threatening emergencies.

The Royal Geographic Society, in partnership with BBC Radio 4, is offering a £5,000 grant for travel to anywhere in the world through the Journey of a Lifetime Award. The recipient of the award will record their journey and their reflections for a BBC 4 radio documentary. Applications close on November 6.

The 2017 William H. Johnson Prize is accepting applications from African-American artists through November 16.

The Jhalak Prize for Book of the Year by a Writer of Color is accepting submissions of books first published in the UK and written by British and British resident BAME writers. Those awarded will receive £1,000. Submissions are due November 30.

The Will Eisner Graphic Novel Growth Grant is accepting applications from libraries with ALA memberships seeking to expand their current graphic novel collections and services.
