Awards
The Ignatz Awards are accepting submissions of comics until May 31.
The first annual Prism Awards are accepting applications of comics featuring queer characters and content created by queer creators. Categories include Best Short Form Comic, Best Webcomic, Best Comic from a Small to Mid-Size Press, Best Comic from a Mainstream Publisher, and Best Comic Anthology! Applications are due by June 1.
The John Locker Memorial Award is accepting submissions from cartoonists ages 18-25 of work featuring strong political and social topics until June 3. The selected winner will receive a $1000 cash prize, an all-expenses-paid trip to the convention for the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists, and a free pass to the CTN Animation Expo in Burbank, California, November 17th-19th 2017.
SPX is accepting submissions of comics for their Ignatz Awards. Submissions of comics are not required for potential nomination, however. Any books mailed in must be received by June 7.

Crowdfunded Projects
Unsounded Comic Volume 3 is running a Kickstarter to fund the printing and shipping of its third volume. Unsounded follows Sette Frummagem, a pickpocket on a mission from her father to collect a debt from her cousin. This third volume will include 300 pages of full-color comicscollecting chapter 7, 8, and 9 of the webcomic into print. Tier options include digital and physical copies of this book, physical copies of the last volumes, enamel pins, and a bookplate. The Kickstarter ends on May 28.
NSFW! Oh Joy Sex Toy: Volume 4 is running a Kickstarter to fund the printing of its fourth volume. Oh Joy Sex Toy is a free weekly webcomic featuring educational comics about sexuality, birth control, the sex industry, sex toys, kinks, and more. Volume 4 will feature the comics that were uploaded from April 2016 to April 2017, including those produced by guest artists. Tier options include PDFs and physical copies of volumes 1, 2, 3, or 4, a digital wallpaper, and a signed bookplate. The Kickstarter ends on May 31.
That Girl Comic is hosting a Kickstarter to fund the production of its anthology project featuring a collective of Scotland’s women comic artists. The anthology will have at least 40 black and white pages of comics involving the theme of “growing up.” Tier options include digital and print copies of the book, postcards, and issues of the Team Girl comics. The Kickstarter ends on May 31.
Built On Strange Ground is running a Kickstarter to fund the production of its anthology of true life mysterious, creepy, and unsettling places and occurences. The book will feature over 200 pages of autobiographical comics from over 30 contributing artists. Tier options include digital and physical copies of the book, digital and physical copies of Then It Was Dark, an enamel pin, a portrait in the book, a thank you note written in the book, and more! The Kickstarter ends on June 1.
Espers – From Nothing, Something Comes is running a Kickstarter to fund its production. Espers is a creation myth told in 22 pages of full-color comics, with 6 additional pages of bonus content to also be included in the final comic. Tier options include digital and physical copies of the book, a digital wallpaper, prints, stickers, a t-shirt, and more. The Kickstarter ends on June 2.
Sparkler Monthly is hosting a Kickstarter for Magical How? Volume 1 by Eurika Yusin Gho (eyugho). Magical How? is a full-color comic about Gabe, an initially heartbroken college student who signs up to be a Magical Boy at the first opportunity, and Booker, his sarcastic fic-writing room mate. Together they deal with the world of Magical Boys and the skirts they wear, the conditions of their powers, and the dramas of their relationships. Tier options include digital and physical copies of the book, a digital desktop, sparkly mini-prints, a keychain, an R18 doujinshi, signed bookplates, and more! The Kickstarter ends on June 7.
THE BEYOND ANTHOLOGY 2 + THE BEYOND ANTHOLOGY 1 REPRINT is running a Kickstarter to fund the production and fulfillment of both volumes. Beyond volume 2 will feature over 350 pages of queer sci-fi and fantasy comic content from 39 contributors. The first volume, winner of a Lambda Literary award, will also be reprinted through this Kickstarter. Tier options include digital and physical copies of both volumes, a digital wallpaper, a bookplate, mini-prints, an enamel pin, and more. The Kickstarter ends on June 8.
As the Crow Flies: Volume 1 is running a Kickstarter to fund its printing and shipping. As the Crow Flies tells the story of Charlie Lamonte, the only queer black camper at her Christian summer camp for young teen girls, and how she comes to terms with the inconsistencies of the camp’s beliefs. The volume will contain 270 pages of Melanie Gillman’s Eisner-nominated webcomic, beautifully illustrated with colored pencils. Tier options include digital and physical copies of the book, a bookplate, original artwork, and a workshop visit with Melanie Gillman. The Kickstarter ends on June 14.
Comics for Choice: Anthology for Abortion Rights is collecting funds to pay for printing and fulfillment of their anthology, with all other proceeds to be donated to the National Network of Abortion Funds until June 16. The book will feature over 250 pages of black and white comics from 60 contributing artists and writers. Tier options include physical and digital copies of the book, and patches.
Anarchy Dreamers Issue 5 is running a Kickstarter to fund the printing and shipping of its fifth issue. Anarchy Dreamers tells the story of 6 young students who, after a mass shooting with no gunman wreaks havoc at their school, are “revived” and tasked with preventing further tragedy by fighting “Nightmares.” The printed comic will feature 32 pages of full-color comics as well as 4 pages of bonus content. Tier option include a physical copy of the book, physical copies of past issues, a sparkly bookmark, mini prints, larger prints, stickers, a comic cameo, and more. The Kickstarter ends on June 17.

NPR is collecting comics, series, issues, graphic novels, webcomics, and any other variation or sub-genre of sequential art for their Summer Comics Poll! Your submissions will be used to curate a list of 100 series. Submit your faves!
Animation
Boulder Media is looking for a 2D background artist, a compositing lead, and an animation supervisor!
Here is a survey for Women Professionals in Animation. If you work in animation and identify as a woman, please submit your anonymous information to this survey to inform and assist current and future animators.

The NYCLU is hosting a Freedom of Expression contest for photographs, signs, and artwork created as a part of protest. Submissions are due by May 26.
Cicada is seeking submissions of poetry, fiction, essays, and comics for their issue on puppets and dolls due by May 27.
Applications for the Love Live x Pokemon Fan Zine are open until May 27. Profits will be split between contributors.

Spirit of the Samurai, a Samurai Jack fan zine, is accepting applications until June 1. Proceeds will be donated to Amnesty International.
Take That! An LGBT Fan Zine is accepting applications until June 2. Proceeds will be donated to the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
The Persona 5 Fan Zine Phanboys is accepting applications until June 3. No information is provided about how proceeds will be distributed.
Secrets of the Goat People is accepting submissions for its fourth volume, “The Body Fantastic.” Short and longer fiction, illustrations, and comics are welcome. Submissions are due by June 6.
The Utena Fashion Zine is accepting applications from illustrators and other creators until June 10. The zine will be distributed for free as a PDF.
Wayward Sisters: An Anthology of Monstrous Women is accepting applications for their upcoming anthology until June 11. Contributors will be paid $51 per page, and will have up to 10 pages published.
