News
Tumblr will ban all adult content on December 17. Their policies state that only certain types of graphics and text will be affected by the change, but their algorithm has already flagged numerous works that are not “adult,” “explicit,” or otherwise titillating. As heavy Tumblr users seek another safe haven for NSFW and even SFW content, critics of Tumblr’s policy shift emphasize that this year’s SESTA/FOSTA laws, which will take affect in January, will change much of the internet landscape, putting many sex workers and LGBTQ+ internet users at risk.
Facebook also updated its rules so that mentioning sexuality – even sexual partner preference – is against its Community Standards. It remains to be seen how far these rules will reach, but already posts are being hidden for violating their new rules.

- SPX has created a legal aid fund in support of 11 indie artists and an indie publisher who are faced with a defamation lawsuit because they spoke out against another creator’s alleged pattern of sexual abuse. Please support their cause and send the message that survivors of sexual assault do not feel afraid to speak out against their abusers and supporters of victims should not pay for an abuser’s crimes.
