Awards

The Penguin Random House Library Award for Innovation Through Adversity is accepting applications from US libraries and staff who overcome adversity and create lasting innovative community service programs that successfully inspire and connect with new readers. A $10,000 cash award will be given to a US library, and four runners-up will receive $1,000 in Penguin Random House books.

The 2020 Excellence in Graphic Literature Award is accepting applications for Jurors and the Advisory Board until November 1.

button_new3 The 47th Annual Annie Awards are accepting submissions until November 1 at 5PM PST.

The Lambda Literary Awards are accepting entries until November 15. There is an entrance fee of $55.

The 31st Annual GLAAD Media Awards is accepting submissions until November 27 (6PM PST). Each submission requires a separate entry form and a $100 processing fee payable to GLAAD; reduced fees or hardship waivers can be requested. More information about submissions can be found here.

The Ladies of Horror Fiction Awards is accepting submissions of works of horror created by women (cis or trans) until December 31. The awards will be announced in 2020.

The Ladies Do Comics Award is accepting submissions of long form graphic novels in process from women in the UK. Digital forms must be submitted by January 5, 2020 and printed books must be received by January 26, 2020.

The Ripped Bodice Awards for Excellence in Romantic Fiction will announce its winners on February 14, 2020. While there is no formal submissions process and judges are tasked with making note of memorable romance fiction, you are welcome to submit your work for consideration.

The Myriad First Graphic Novel Competition is accepting submissions of graphic novels in process from creators who have not yet published a full-length graphic work until February 28, 2020.

endingbutton_4 Illustrator and comic artist Mazie is currently raising funds on Kickstarter to publish Home Sweet Home. The autobiographical comic anthology features 14 creators whose explorations of the theme of “home” compose the saddle-stitched book. Tier options include digital and physical copies of Home Sweet Home, a sticker, a bookmark, and original artwork. The Kickstarter ends on October 30.

Taneka Stotts and Camila Fortuna are currently raising funds on Kickstarter to produce Killer Looks: an Enamel Pin Set. These enamel pins feature killer designs of weaponry and weighted stares, with more designs unlocked as the project’s pledge total increases. Tier options include the pins themselves, stickers, and prints. The Kickstarter ends on November 2.

Memokkeen is currently raising funds on Kickstarter to produce Invisible Illness: Depression. The anthology features more than 70 pages of comics, illustrations and creative writing that confront the experience of depression and how it affects those who experience it. Tier options include digital and physical copies of the book, digital and physical copies of Invisible Illness: Anxiety, stickers, and a tote bag. The campaign ends on November 6.

NSFW! Fortuna Media is currently raising funds to produce Book of Shadows: BUFFOMET. This hardcover art book celebrates delicious, demonic decadence and erotica with spot color printing and the contributions of over 40 LGBTQ+ artists. Tier options include digital and physical copies of the book, a poster insert, and an enamel pin. The Kickstarter ends on November 6.

Power and Magic Press is currently raising funds to produce Power & Magic: The Queer Witch Anthology Volume 2. This anthology features over 200 pages of black-and-white young adult comics starring queer witches of color. Tier options include digital and physical copies of the book, digital and physical copies of Power & Magic: Volume 1, as well as the other books from Power and Magic Press, a bookplate, a sketch card, and an enamel pin. The Kickstarter ends on November 9.

Mariah Currey is currently raising funds on Kickstarter to publish Rainy Day Dreams Book 1. To quote the campaign page, “Rainy Day Dreams is a queer-friendly, character-driven supernatural drama about relationships, monsters, and defeating evil with kindness.” Tier options include digital and physical copies of the book, and other digital and physical comics by Mariah. The campaign ends on November 8.


astroladiesbutton_new3 Illustrator Geneva Benton is currently raising funds on Kickstarter to produce AstroLadies Enamel Pins. Inspired by her own past illustrations, Geneva’s collection of enamel pins feature confident women and themes of space and exploration. Tier options include enamel pins and foil prints. The campaign ends on November 12.

button_new3 Bones McKay and Ursula Gray are currently raising funds on Kickstarter to produce Moonlight: A Queer Werewolf Anthology. More than twenty queer creators contributed short stories and comics to this anthology about queer werewolves. Tier options include digital and physical copies of the book. The campaign ends on November 12.

The black and white comic anthology features fifteen stories, all with the unifying theme of queer expression and water. button_new3 Carnation Books is currently raising funds to publish The Queer Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Composed of queer, transformative explorations of the Sherlock Holmes universe, the anthology features nine authors well-known for their work in fanfiction.   • button_new3 Smack Mellon’s Artist Studio Program is accepting applications from New York City-based artists until November 1. Selected participants will receive 24/7 access to a 250-300 sq. ft. studio space in Brooklyn, and must use the studio space at least 50 hours per month.
  • Light Grey Art Lab opened applications for two upcoming art camps: one in Japan ($2,295), and one in Costa Rica ($2,150). Payment plans are available.
